Make-up Task for missed seminar

Hi everyone!

If you missed Monday's seminar, we have created a make-up task for you to do. Hand this in before February 20th.

You can find the task under the 'Examination' tab.

See some of you tonight for the movie!

Change of date

Hello everyone,

We have to move the lecture on Change from the Top-Down: How do we solve the Climate Crisis to March 9th. Elin Rönqvist from the Climate Unit at the Department of Environment will be coming to speak with us.  This means that the mandatory workshop Getting to Maybe will be on March 2nd instead.

The updated schedule can be found above.

Best,

Ingrid & Alexis

Next week: Theories of Change!

Next week we have our seminar on Theories of Change. We're basing the whole seminar on the Oxfam paper on "How Change Happens" by Roman Krznaric, so it's extra important to read this beforehand.

In other news:

1. Movie night is moved to Thursday, February 12th at 19.00 in CEMUS Library. Featured movie this week will be the documentary Waste Land.

2. We moved the date, because this Thursday, February 5th at 17.15 the Library will be used by an initiative for good conversations, Samutveckling.se. You can read more about the event here: http://samutveckling.se/iscafe-student-i-uppsala/. (The topic of the evening is citizen's income and new economics). It's usually in Swedish, but English speakers are also welcome.

Anoud has set up a group for those of us that have Facebook. Find it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1844517615802064/requests/?notif_t=group_r2j

See you next week,

Alexis & Ingrid

For Alan’s lecture…

Hi everyone and thanks for a good workshop last night!

For next week, remember to...

    • Sign up for a interview group (if you can't do it because you can't access Studentportalen, email us with which group you would like to be in).
    • Do the reading and watch the talk (as always)
    • What kind of institution, organization, company or place have you always wanted to visit and learn from, but never gotten the chance? Is there an actor you admire or are curious about in society? Is there someone who is doing the type of work you would like to be doing? Have a think, and we'll collect some more suggestions for field trip destinations next week.
    • Have a look at Examination Task I (in the examination tab above) and ask us any questions you have about it on Monday.

We're planning on going out to eat after Alan's lecture on Monday, would be great if you want to join.

Next Thursday (Feb 5th) we'll organize a movie night, 19.00 in the CEMUS Library. We'll be watching Waste Land, a multi-award winning documentary about social change in the favelas of Brazil. Popcorn's on us 🙂

See you next week!

For next time!

It was great to meet all of you on Monday.

For next week, remember to read the introduction in Klein’s This Changes Everything, and watch Ken Robinson’s TED talk. If you can’t access the reading, please email us.

Karen O'Briens slides can now be found under the new tab 'lecture presentations'

On Monday we’ll also be brainstorming ideas for destinations for the student-organised field trips. There are many perspectives and actors which we could not cover in this course - the field trip is an opportunity for you to visit an actor that is of special interest to you. Be ready to brainstorm suggestions next week!

See you on Monday,

Alexis & Ingrid

The beginning of the semester is just around the corner!

Don't forget that you must attend the roll-call on Monday, January 19th at 17.15 in room Norrland I at Geocentrum, Villavägen 16 - otherwise you lose your place! After the roll-call, Karen O'Brien will give a lecture on "Transformation in a Changing Climate - Evolution or Revolution?". We have sent out an article for you to read in preparation for the lecture. (Let us know if you did not receive it, and we'll send it to you).

See schedule and welcome letter above for more information. For any questions, contact us at asc[at]csduppsala.uu.se.

See you next week!
