It's time to be finance geeks on a Friday night.
Inside Job, a film about how the 2008 global financial crisis went down, will be screened at Hamburgsalen, Geocentrum, on Friday at 7pm. Bring snacks/drinks if you wish.
Those of you who cannot come on Friday will need to watch the film before Monday 6th October (we recommend those who have seen it already re-watch it so it's fresh in your mind). On the 6th we will discuss the film, look into the 2008 financial crisis, and use parts of the film actively during the class. This will also provide a good basis for getting into the Guest Lecture on Wednesday 8th from economist Michael Wendshlag: "The Economic Crisis of Today".
See you Wednesday,
Anyone who has not yet chosen and signed up for a debate topic, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us as soon as possible. Debate topics are listed here.
We hope you enjoyed the critical thinking workshop on Wednesday. We did! Some of you have still not given us your email addresses - please write them on the attendance sheet when you sign your name.
If you missed the workshop and have not yet recieved your make-up task via email, please contact us as soon as possible. The deadline for finishing this extra task is Thursday 25th, however we'd recommend completing it before then next session so you are caught up with the rest of the class.

Hello and welcome to course.
Please check the preliminary schedule for details of the not-to-be-missed CEMUS Open Lectures from Dougald Hine and Alan AtKisson which will kick-off the Autumn Semester next week. We have also made important updates to the course literature requirements, so please check them.
We look forward to meeting all of you on Wednesday, 3rd September in Hamburgsalen, Geocentrum to begin our journey into the depths, and shallows, of the global economy.
/Lakin and Tim.
Thanks for a successful day at the sustainability festival last week. It was a great experience to see all your work and creativity coming together.
As it says on the schedule, we will have a potluck dinner here at Geocentrum tomorrow during regular class time! It will be great to have a final moment with all of you before you head off into the world, your summer holidays, or continue on to your future studies.
The weather is supposed to be sunny (but perhaps a little chilly so bring a light jacket) and if so we will sit outside. We will start at 17:15 with drinks/snacks, and we will start eating around 18:00, maybe earlier. (For those who don't already know, potluck means each one of us brings one dish of food and then we share everything together.)
Coffee, tea, drinks (non-alcoholic), music, plates etc. will be provided. Along with hopefully some games and activities. Bring your own everything else.
See you there,
Lakin & Heleen
I am trying to sort out the possibility of poster printing. If you have made a digital poster and would like a poster printed, please email the course email ASAP and include your group member's names in the email. I need to know how many groups would like this if possible.
As we have limited time next week, its very important you tell us as soon as possible. Enjoy the sun!
Thanks for a great session on Wednesday. We appreciate you all dealing so well with the time constraints.. it seemed we could have had at least double the time with most groups!
The creative make-up task for those who missed the mandatory task 'Workshop 1: Starting the Project' is now available under 'Assignments' on the course portal. Please submit this before the end of semester if you want to be sure to have your credits for this course approved by summer!

Welcome back after a sunny and snowy Vålborg, we hope you had a lot of fun and had experiences you will remember for a long time (and maybe a few you can't remember at all!). On Wednesday, 7th May we will have our next Update meeting. Below is important information about the structure, content and location of the meeting.
Purpose. The purpose of this meeting is for you to show documentation of your work so far. The focus of the meeting will be on 'idea generation', 'idea selection', and 'prototyping' phases, with some attention also to your 'research' phase of your Design Project Assignment. Many groups have been making a lot of progress and it's exciting to see it happening.
Structure. Each meeting will be 15-20 minutes per group with the following structure:
- 2-3 minutes. Your group will give a quick summary of actions, progress and results since last meeting.
- 8-10 Minutes. Examiner and coordinators will ask questions about your work to date. This will focus mainly on the 'idea generation', 'idea selection', 'prototyping' and 'concept development' you have been doing (see pg.3 of Design Project description), also with some attention also to your 'research' phase. Questions will be based on three things: the Design Project Assignment requirements, your input in Update Meeting 1, and on plans you have shown us/talked to us about. Make sure you bring good documentation of the last weeks of work (see below) as this will allow you to discuss your work and help answer these questions.
- 5 Minutes. Other group will have the opportunity to ask questions and open a dicussion as happened in the previous update meeting.
Bring Documentation. As per the assignment instructions, you will have been documenting your work with pictures, notes, diagrams, maps, prototypes, interviews, etc. Bring these to help show the work you have been doing in the 6 weeks since you started with the Design Project Assignment. You must bring these materials in order to meet the requirements of this meeting.
New Guest. Our examiner, Tuula Eriksson, who will grade your design project, will be here this week. She will ask some questions about your work, and she will be taking into account your progress at this stage of the project when she is examining your final submision at the end of May.
Your Voice. Everyone in the group should come prepared to talk about your design project this week, as you wil be called upon to contribute to the discussion.
Time. Check the schedule for Update Meeting 2 under the 'Schedule & Info' tab on the course portal.
Location. We will be in Geocentrum in room DK235, which is on level 2 above CEMUS. To get here, walk through the CEMUS library and towards the kitchen/back entry to CEMUS. Walk up the stairs on your left and you will find the room at the top of the stairway
